From Aspirations to Careers
Antarang Foundation enables equitable futures for India’s youth by creating career readiness ecosystems with the public high school at the centre - mainstreaming career education in the high school curriculum, and bringing together the school system, local industry, parent communities, and peer role models to ensure that no student is left out - and every young adult is in a career pathway of choice.

Bridging the Gap
India’s youth are its greatest asset, yet millions face barriers to education, employment, and training. Discover the key challenges hindering their transition from school to work.
Lack of Equitable Career Opportunities for the Youth
India is one of the youngest countries in the world, with 65% of its population under 35 and 50% under 25. With a youth population of 371 million, this demographic is poised to drive economic growth for the next decade—if given the right opportunities. However, 48% of adolescents drop out of education before completing high school, often due to a lack of career guidance and access to opportunities to foster socio-economic mobility.
The NEET Crisis
Nearly 1 in 3 young Indians (103.4 million) are Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET). This severely limits the nation’s growth potential as youth lack the skills or opportunities to contribute to the workforce.
The Disadvantage for Women
Women make up 82% of NEET youth, totalling 84.9 million, nearly five times more than their male counterparts. A majority are excluded from the workforce due to domestic responsibilities, contributing to India’s low female labour force participation.
The Risk of Social Exclusion
Young people who are NEET often live below the poverty line and lack the skills necessary to improve their economic prospects, hindering India’s ability to harness its demographic dividend.
Impact at Scale: See the Change We’re Making
We are driving change at scale by enabling equitable futures for our youth. Our impact is at three levels – students and stakeholders, systems adoption, and ecosystem development.

360 Degree Career Ecosystem
What Does It Take to Fulfill a Student's Career Aspirations?
Achieving students’ career dreams requires more than effort—it demands transforming the entire system to help them succeed. Click each card to explore our 360° ecosystem and see how we build awareness, provide support, and create opportunities for sustainable impact!
Awareness
Career Curriculum
We develop and embed a comprehensive career education curriculum for students in grades 9 -12. The curriculum includes psychometric tests for self-awareness, exposure to 50+ career streams, and tools to help students create a clear, customised career plan. The curriculum is updated annually in consultation with state education agencies, parents, teachers and students.
In-School Career Facilitators
We are building a cadre of career facilitators for the country. We conduct training sessions and workshops for school teachers and local, young professionals to prepare them as Career Facilitators who deliver career education classes to the students.
Support
Career Report & 1-1 Counseling
We generate customised, individual career reports for each student harnessing the power of technology. We use a Salesforce (C) enabled backend and student data-collection via OMRs.
Alumni Engagement
We have an effective alumni engagement module that supports students beyond graduation, connecting them with career development workshops, interview preparation, and mentorship.
24/7 Career ChatBot
Our 24/7 tech-enabled career guidance WhatsApp chatbot provides personalised, hands-on support to students, facilitators, parents, and teachers, no matter where they are.
Enabling Environment
Parents Engagement
Parents are key decision makers in the lives of adolescent children, especially young women. The parent engagement module includes one-on-one counseling sessions with parents and their students to normalise conversations about careers, work and travel – among other things.
School Principals and Teachers
School heads and teachers are key influencers in a student’s life, often the only advisors on important decisions; shaping how they navigate their career exploration journeys. We conduct regular and comprehensive orientation sessions on how they can encourage students to make informed career decisions.
Systems Adoption
In a country like India, where numbers are massive; existing school systems are the ones that reach all children – even the most vulnerable. Advocating for and building government capacity to embed career education as a school subject is at the core of our Careers Model. We collaborate with governments and schools, both district and state-wide, to ensure that no student is left behind.
Access & Exposure
Industry Visits and Role Models
We facilitate partnerships between high schools and local industry as we build career education ecosystems, enabling equitable futures. Our students get the professional exposure they need and hands-on experience in various fields, helping them move closer to acting on and achieving successful school-to-work transitions.
